Yotel Manchester Deansgate Entrance
I’ve stayed in a few Yotel hotels over the years and always thought they were decent places for quick pit stops. They come under three brandings, Yotel Air – for those within airport vicinities, Yotel Hotel – for city centre locations and Yotel Pads for longer stays.
I decided to go to Manchester last minute back in September and there were few hotels in a decent price range that weekend. This Yotel seemed liked my best bet and I booked without hesitation.
Some people do BA Tier point runs from Manchester Airport, which is just 20 minutes by tram from here, so a good place to consider for this too !
As Britain’s third major city, Manchester has everything yet feels relatively compact. This property in Deansgate is a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria stations.
It is on the corner between Broad Street and Deansgate
In keeping with it’s smart by design and minimalist philosophy, you can check in by yourself in these kiosks which is what I did.. it just took a minute for it to dispatch my room card.
Alternatively, they still have a small manned reception desk, where you can check-in too.
There is some nice sofas in what is essentially a lobby area/bar/hangout area all combined into one..
My room was on the 3rd floor and they have two elevators to take you up..
I booked the standard King Room. The deep shades of green from the lobby area downstairs continue as you enter the room..
Yotel’s are known for being compact, and that is exactly what they were here. But 215sq is not that small either. That doesn’t mean there was anything missing.
Keeping some traditions of the building it has nice parquet flooring with a industrial grey ceiling..
This is nicely accented by the sleek wood panelling at the centre of the room with the TV and the bedframe..
This is a double room with a large king size bed..
There were large full size pillows and you still have a large gap ! All your conveniences are thoughtfully built in, from bed side reading lights on each side as well as charging and storage for small items built into the bed frame!
You also have a decent size desk and chair which has a frame around that doubles up as your wardrobe to hang any cloths you want..
There’s a nice little mirror by the desk as well as a large wall mirror by entrance. The room on the whole felt very stylish and modern with good amount of mood lighting controls to create the right ambience for you.
You may have noticed by now, this room has no windows! About half the rooms are but they were highlighted well when you book so you will know if this is the case.
This is a first time I’ve ever stayed in a windowless room and honestly, I don’t think it made any difference to my stay. I was only here to sleep at night !
The Yotel Air in Singapore Changi Airport also has many windowless rooms also.
Behind sliding doors reveals the bathroom which again is fully equipped and actually a very decent size !
The shower cubicle was a very good size with a good pressure rain shower as well as hand held shower head.
The bathroom is stocked with Urban Jungle amenities, which had a pleasant fragrance and you have two sets of towels and a bathmat, including a hair dryer.
Every floor in this hotel has this Galley area with complimentary tea & coffee and chilled water. Here you will also find iron and ironing boards
As I mentioned earlier, you also have a bar and restaurant downstairs but the area is full of good places to eat/drink !
I like the Yotels, they provide exactly what they say, everything you functionally need for a short stay without any of the fluff. I found the room very comfortable with a good size bed and bedding. It kind of reminded me of citizenMs.
Most these rooms are more compact than regular hotels, unless you are in Hong Kong or Japan of course, where this is a totally normal hotel size. For me it fit the bill perfectly for a quick pit stop in Manchester. They do have some bigger rooms aptly called First Class King, these are just under 400 and come with a sofa bed and more space to roam around !
The King room cost £124 per night, and the First Class King was £188. These are average prices and can be much higher or lower depending on seasons.
