Review: Turkish Lounge Bangkok Suvarnabhumi
During my recent 3 month long trip all over Asia/OZ/New Zealand and the States, I passed through Bangkok twice. Which gave me the opportunity to visit the Turkish Lounge Bangkok outstation lounge. The Turkish flagship lounge in the new Istanbul airport may be my favourite airport lounge. And yes that’s even considering all the First Class lounges I have experienced as well! How does this lounge compare?Especially given all the competition in BKK airport?
Access & Location
The lounge is located in Concourse D, after immigration. You can take escalators up to Level 3. Its located near gate D8. Several other lounges are also on this level.
The lounge is relatively recent and only one of a handful of outstation lounges by Turkish Airlines.
Its open 24 hours
The lounge is accessible to star alliance gold members and those flying on Turkish Business or other Star Alliance flights. Full Star Alliance access rules can be found here
It seems the lounge is also available via of Priority Pass. Which makes sense, given Turkish only fly out from Bangkok 3 times daily. I imagine near those flights they would restrict access to Priority Pass members, as so many of decent airline managed lounges do.
Turkish Lounge Bangkok Layout
After passing through the reception area, you have essentially two main areas. The space is somewhat open plan.
Its not a big lounge. I had a mid morning flight to Singapore, the lounge was almost empty at around 8.30am when I entered.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and serene. The sofa chairs were comfortable, each having access to a small table. I especially liked the swivel chairs by the window where you can gaze outside while enjoying a drink.
Turkish Lounge Food & Beverage
Given the size of the lounge, the buffet area is also relatively small. You have access to a range of cold and hot beverages alongside several hot food options as well as fruits and pastries etc
It was nice to see they also had someone making fresh omelettes to order. Which is a nice touch.
So I decided to have an omelette with some baked potatoes and mushrooms alongside some fruits.
The food was excellent. If I was not expecting to have breakfast onboard again, I would have gone for seconds!
After that, I just had a coffee by the window.
Turkish Lounge Bangkok Facilities
The lounge also provides a business centre with some desks and printers etc
There are also a couple of prayer rooms, each for males and females.
Like the flagship lounge, complementary 15 minutes massages are also available here from 3pm until 11pm.
They also have showers, though I no longer had time to check it out. After I finished my coffee it was time to board!
Overall thoughts
I really enjoyed visiting this lounge. It was very relaxing, as a lounge should be. The food and drinks on offer were more than adequate. Though I suppose it would be unreasonable to expect the level and quality of catering you would see in the Istanbul hub.
It’s a shame I missed out on a complementary massage once again. Maybe next time pass though Istanbul in a couple of months, I will get lucky.
All things considered, I would prefer this lounge over the Oman Air First & Business Lounge in the airport.
