Iberia Business From 17k Avios

Limited Time Promo: Iberia Business From 17k Avios!

Iberia Business From 17k Avios?! Almost sounds too good to be true?

I have refrained from sharing airline offers and deals lately, as there are still widespread travel restrictions in place. Especially inter-continental travel.  Even for supposed “travel corridors” that exists, the variables and thus safe lists are changing every week. It seemed somewhat irresponsible to encourage anyone to part with significant sums of money.

I would personally not book any cash flights, unless absolutely essential now. It’s just too risky.

However…

The Avios Deal

Iberia seem to be running a very generous 50% off redemption bookings. By the looks of it for all routes. The flights must be operated by Iberia or Iberia Express Aircraft and not codeshares.

If you book between now and 30th August 2020 for travel up to 15th March 2021, all Iberia redemption are half price!

This means you can fly from Madrid to the East Coast, like New York or Boston in Iberia Business for 17,000 Avios only one way + £89 in taxes or 34000 return!  Which is a fantastic deal!

For Economy this is just 8500 Avios. Premium Economy is also available on some routes coming in somewhere in between for the number of Avios required.

There are many advantages of booking with Iberia as opposed to British Airways. For one, the avios required for redemption are lower. Secondly, the taxes and surcharges are significantly less comparable routes.

Iberia Business Class Standards

Iberia A340 Business Class
Iberia A340 Business Class

I have flown Iberia Business Class on both their A340 and A330’s (there are subtle differences) last year.  These are generally a good hard product providing you full flat beds and comfortable amenities. Arguably better than BA’s Club World. The soft product however can be very distinctly average.

The lounges in Madrid however are superb!

This is Low Risk

Given we are looking at a 6 month time frame here, anything can happen with the pandemic. Most reward flight bookings are flexible and changeable. Iberia charges just 25 euros to change your ticket!

So if you did make a tentative booking, changing it should not be a problem. Despite some language problems, I have found Iberia customer service/operations to be more than adequate, when I had to change one of my flights last year.

There are some reports that this maybe restricted to Spain based users, but some people have reported being able to see the promo outside Spain.

Combine Your Avios From BA

If you do not have enough Iberia Avios, there are options to transfer from your BA account. As long as you Iberia Plus account is more than 90 days old, you can use the Combine My Avios feature, as illustrated nicely in that article.

I have tried to test this out but this currently seems to be unavailable on BA’s site.
